Two tools carry the whole server: ListKnowledgeBases discovers what exists along with each base's data sources, and QueryKnowledgeBases runs a conversational query and returns matching passages with citation information. The discovery step is deliberately opt-in — a knowledge base is only listed if it carries the inclusion tag, mcp-multirag-kb set to true by default and overridable through KB_INCLUSION_TAG_KEY. That single tag is what keeps an agent away from bases nobody meant to expose, which matters when one account holds both a public FAQ index and an internal one. Results can be narrowed to specific data sources, and Bedrock reranking is available but off unless enabled, since it needs both bedrock:Rerank and bedrock:InvokeModel permissions in a region that supports it.
