The server runs on Google's side rather than on your machine: the client just points at a Drive API endpoint and every call inherits the signed-in account's own file permissions. The tool set stays close to what Drive already does — locating files, pulling their content, reading metadata and sharing settings, copying or creating new ones. It ships through the Workspace developer preview, so the surface can still change.
