Ledger is a double-entry accounting system whose entire database is a text file, and this server does nothing more exotic than shell out to the ledger binary already installed on the machine. That means no vendor account, no API key and no financial data leaving the host. Nine tools map onto the CLI: balance and register with query patterns and date ranges, listings of accounts, payees and commodities, print, stats and a budget report over a chosen period. The ninth, ledger_raw_command, forwards an arbitrary argument list and therefore covers every report the typed tools do not model, at the cost of the guard rails the others provide, so it is worth a deliberate decision before enabling. Configuration is a single LEDGER_FILE path; a published Docker image mounts the journal into the container.
