Use when an agent needs to turn a supported 3D mesh into FDM G-code and check the result against a supplied printer profile.

G-code adds a structured FDM slicing stage to an agent workflow. Given a supported mesh and an explicit printer profile, it coordinates a local slicer, produces ordinary G-code and checks the output before it moves into a printer-specific process. The skill focuses on file preparation and analysis rather than controlling hardware.
Highlights
- Accepts STL, OBJ and unsliced 3MF files directly, with optional conversion support for PLY, GLB and GLTF inputs.
- Detects compatible local slicer backends and supports OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer and CuraEngine workflows.
- Provides inspection and dry-run steps so the input, profile and proposed command can be reviewed before slicing.
- Evaluates generated files for essential motion, extrusion and temperature operations, along with configured spatial limits.
- Includes executable helpers and reference material for backend behavior and validation results.
This skill is useful for makers, mechanical engineers and automation teams that want agents to prepare printable output without granting them responsibility for uploading or starting a print. Install the text-to-cad skill collection with the Skills CLI, then provide a real slicer installation and an appropriate machine profile.
