Obsidian Bases gives an agent the domain knowledge needed to turn vault metadata into practical, database-like collections. It supports the full journey from defining which notes belong in a collection to presenting the results through purpose-built views. Its guidance also helps the agent recognize fragile YAML and formula patterns before they become confusing errors in Obsidian.
Highlights
- Creates table, card, list, and map-oriented Base configurations.
- Selects notes through folder, tag, property, link, and date conditions.
- Builds calculated properties for dates, text, numbers, status labels, and other derived values.
- Configures grouping, ordering, result limits, display labels, and aggregate summaries.
- Addresses common failures involving quoting, missing values, undefined formulas, and duration calculations.
This skill is useful for Obsidian users who want an agent to assemble dashboards, project trackers, media libraries, daily-note indexes, or similar structured views without hand-writing every expression. It is distributed as part of Steph Ango’s Obsidian skills repository and can be installed with the skills CLI from the repository URL.
