Quarkus development revolves around dev mode, and dev mode is a long-lived process — start it inside an agent session and it disappears the moment anything restarts or the application crashes. This server runs as a separate process for exactly that reason: it scaffolds projects through the Quarkus CLI, Maven or JBang, then starts, stops and restarts the application and keeps holding it. Once the app is up it proxies the Dev MCP tools the running application exposes itself, so extension-specific tooling becomes reachable without configuring a second server. Documentation search runs in a container, which is why Docker or Podman is a prerequisite alongside Java 21. It ships as a JBang-resolvable uber-jar with native binaries for Linux and macOS.
