Asking a model to emit a full Vega-Lite or ECharts config means asking it to decide scales, tick spacing, label rotation and legend placement from memory, which is where most generated charts fall apart. Flint sits above those libraries as an intermediate language: the spec says what each field means using 70+ semantic types such as Rank, Temperature, Price or Country, and layout is derived from the data's cardinality, the chart design and the canvas. Formal themes — New York Times, Economist, Swiss, McKinsey among them — are applied as presets so visual identity is a parameter rather than hand-tuned styling. The MCP server adds create, validate and render tools, and a hosted endpoint exists for clients that speak remote HTTP.
