Kestra ships in an open source edition and an enterprise one, and the API surface differs between them. An environment variable turns the enterprise tools off, so an agent pointed at an OSS installation is not offered calls that would come back as errors — a small setting that removes a whole class of confusing failures. Authentication follows the same split: username and password for open source, an API token for enterprise and cloud, with a tenant identifier in both. Logging defaults to errors only, which matters because the recommended setup runs the server as a container over stdio and stray output shares that channel with the protocol. Kestra's own AI agents can call it as a tool as well.
