Template filling is where most legal automation quietly goes wrong, because the missing defaults are invisible in the output. OpenAgreements addresses that directly: each template carries source and licence metadata, the fill step reports which priority fields still need attention, and omitted cover terms fall back to declared defaults such as a one-year term and Delaware governing law rather than being silently blank. Alongside the templates it publishes jurisdiction-specific practice guides with citations to primary law and review checklists in both human and machine-readable form. The project states its own boundary plainly: this is legal information and document mechanics, and every generated file is a draft for a human to review.
