Most agent shells forget everything between commands, which makes a Python REPL or a psql session useless. Desktop Commander runs a shell whose state persists across turns, and the plugin's skills are mostly about knowing when that matters: long-running dev servers, SSH sessions, database shells. The trigger list is written around symptoms rather than product names, so a pasted EADDRINUSE or ModuleNotFoundError pulls the skill in without anyone mentioning a terminal. Alongside the shell work there are skills for a machine health check, for maintaining a knowledge base and for driving an Obsidian vault.
