This is a thin, deliberate wrapper: the skill talks to a Grafana instance by shelling out to the separate grafana-assistant binary, which speaks the A2A protocol rather than MCP. Two design choices carry the weight. First, if the binary is missing the skill stops and tells the user where to get it — no attempt to install a tool onto the machine on its own. Second, targets live in a config file as named instances with a current selection, so localhost and production are distinct names rather than a URL retyped each time, and tokens can come from environment variables. The Grafana MCP server and its forty-odd dashboard and Prometheus tools are a separate plugin.
