Nightcrawler
A local AI penetration-testing agent for Android
Nightcrawler is an open-source penetration-testing agent designed to run locally on a rooted Android phone with Kali NetHunter. A compact language model selects appropriate testing actions while a separate policy layer checks commands against the authorized scope. The system can continue working without cloud connectivity and stores its observations locally.
Highlights
- Runs model inference and the agent workflow on compatible mobile hardware
- Discovers hosts, identifies exposed services, and correlates findings with vulnerability data
- Enforces network, host, and port boundaries before executing generated commands
- Includes a web dashboard for monitoring activity, reviewing hosts, and controlling a session
- Produces structured findings and remediation guidance for authorized assessments
Nightcrawler is best suited to penetration testers, red teams, and security researchers who are comfortable configuring rooted Android devices and Kali tooling. Its hardware and setup requirements make it a specialist project rather than a consumer security app. The software is available at no charge under an open-source license and can be operated entirely on infrastructure controlled by the user. It must only be deployed on networks covered by clear authorization.
