The endpoint runs at mcp.honeycomb.io, with a separate address for EU teams, so there is no local process to install or keep updated. OAuth is the default path and the browser handshake also decides which environment and access level the agent gets; API keys stay available for unattended jobs that cannot complete a login. The tools go past reading telemetry — boards, triggers and SLOs can be created, so an investigation can end with something saved.
