Earth observation archives are hard to browse because the unit of work is a granule — one file, one swath, one time slice — and finding the right ones means narrowing a dataset first, then filtering by date range and bounding box. That is exactly the loop this server exposes, with downloading kept as a separate step under explicit execution modes so a broad search cannot quietly pull gigabytes. The scoping decision is stated outright in the project: it is Earthdata-only, and notebook or runtime tools are meant to come from jupyter-mcp-server composed alongside it rather than being bolted on here. A NASA Earthdata username and password are required. Available as a Python package and as a container image.
