The plugin bundles the MCP connection so logs, metrics, traces, monitors and dashboards can be asked for in ordinary sentences, but the interesting part is the plumbing around it. Toolsets are switchable through a command, so the full Datadog surface does not have to sit in context when only logs are being read. A separate diagnostic command exists for the case that matters most in practice: it worked yesterday and stopped today, so site, authentication and network reachability are checked in turn. The setup skill also refuses to answer site codes and domains from memory and re-reads its reference table each run. On macOS an optional panel renders charts outside the terminal.
