Instead of taking a feature request at face value, it first asks who the customer is and what progress they are chasing, then files the answers under three job types plus the pains blocking them and the gains they would pay for. Interview notes, support tickets or nothing but a segment name are enough to start, and the output is a filled template you can hang a positioning or discovery document on.
